Nityananda is considered to be one of the great saints and spiritual
personages of the past century. Sitting alone, meditating in the
jungle several hours out of Bombay, an entire ashram community sprung
up around him. Many thousands of devotees from all over India and
the world made pilgrimages to see this extraordinary man. Although
he barely spoke, there was no question about his ability to inspire
and nourish spiritual growth. With a simple look, smile, gesture,
or touch, he could reach deeply into a person's soul and cause profound
changes. There are numerous accounts of miracles taking place around
him throughout his life. One of those miracles occurred to Rudi
who visited him only once but experienced a total transfusion of
energy, as if the man's entire consciousness had poured directly
into him. In 1961 Nityananda took mahasamadhi, a saint's final conscious
departure from this world, but Rudi experienced Nityananda's living
presence for the rest of his life and was able to communicate it
directly to his students. |
